Good time is around. Director Fazil has made it again. ‘Oru Naal
Oru Kanavu’ is not just a feel-good love story but also a film
with a theme. The film looks realistic and straightforward. It’s
good that he tries to divert the attention of the audience from
action, thriller movies and films filled with item numbers. His
honest display, Ilayaraja’s melodious tunes and great
performance from the actors are the plus points of the film.
In the film, Maya Devi (Sonia Aggarwal), a college student
admires a hardworking and cheerful guy Cheenu (Srikanth). She
tries to catch his attention quite a few times and challenges
him to fall in love with her. But he hates her arrogance and
aggressive nature. But at last he decides to take revenge by
pretending that he loves her.
Maya soon comes to know that Cheenu does all types of odd jobs
to support his family of three sisters and parents. But she
decides to live with them in a small house of happy family. But
Maya’s dad falls sick. So Cheeru accompanies her to her home
where he is shocked to see the richness of her family. He
realizes that Maya stays in his house just for want of love and
care. Witnessing her simplicity, he begins to love her. But her
brothers drive him away.
So, Cheeru comes back home and tells the whole story to his
mom who advises him to forget her. He obeys his mother and tries
to become wealthier than Maya. Will Cheeru achieve his aim? What
happens to Maya who has left everything in search of a happy
life? Will they reunite in the end? You will have to watch to
know more exciting twists and turns.
Hero of the film Cheeru has done a very good job in the film.
The director is able to bring into light the hidden talent of
the actor. Sonia looks pretty in the film and her performance is
splendid. Indeed it is her best performance so far.
The credit of making such a lovable film goes to director Fazil.
He has made a beautiful film out of a simple story. He has a
good idea of human mind and has made use of it. He has made this
film when everyone is talking of action, comedy, villains and
thriller movies. Yet he is able to catch the feelings of the
audience. Fazil deserves all the accolades and praises.
Ilayaraja's music is another asset of the film. The music and
songs are melodious. Songs like the "Kaatril Varum Geetham"...
sung by Hariharan, Shreya Ghoshal, Bhavatharini, Ilayaraja and
Sadhana Sargam, and "Konjam Thira"... sung by Sonu Nigam and
Shreya Ghosal are captivating. The melody of the song has a
lasting value.
The flip side of the film is that, it is entirely shot in
Kochin which is very familiar to the audience. It failed to
provide the audience with new locales and scenery. In spite of
this, the film is good-hearted. It presents human goodness
beautifully and also has a good theme. In a nutshell, it’s a
must watch film. |
